Sophisticated Neutral

This beautiful antique French buffet is the inspiration for the color palette today. A neutral that is not quite khaki, not quite grey and yet is a combination of them all. Using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, start with French Linen and add highlights and shadows with Paris Grey, Country Grey, and Old White. Accent with a touch of gilding wax.

This is gorgeous! The colors are a perfect fit for the piece. I’m inspired to try your technique, and excited that you are going to share more about you achieve this look in a future post.

Hi Leslie, I’d love the color of this piece and would like to replicate it for my dining room hutch. Can you tell me how you used the color combination you listed above? Which was your base coat and how did you use the other colors? Thanks!

Nancy Berry

I am just preparing to paint a French buffet that is stained. I have already bought the Annie Sloan French linen and was planning to do an undercoat of gesso, so that I could sand through to some white and some of the wood stain. Exactly how did you apply the Paris grey, country grey, and old white? Your piece is exactly what I am trying to achieve. Thank you. Nancy
