What do you think of Pantone’s choice for color of the year; Marsala?
Does it remind you of anything? Say ..a certain color of……… Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®?
Primer Red, perhaps ?
Or possibly a shade of Scandinavian Pink?
One way to make shades of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is to add Graphite to the color.
If you are considering painting one of your treasures Primer Red, 2015 is the year to do it. The home decor and interior design industries will offer a plethora of fabrics, carpets, and accessories to coordinate with Marsala. To see more Primer Red inspiration see my posts, Garden Door In Wales, and Duck Egg Blue and Primer Red, and Heart of the House. Or you can click on Primer Red in the color palette to see all of my posts featuring Primer Red and also Scandinavian Pink to see all the Scandi Pink inspirations.

What I think is not so much. This isn’t a clear cut color…pretty dreary.
Debra,
I’m not too excited either, but it is an easy color to work with.
Cheers,
Leslie
It’s beautiful! Great color for an accent piece. My twenty-something daughter is into this color already!
Personally love it! But, I love Primer Red too. How would the new Burgundy work shaded?
Carole,
Yes absolutely. In fact Annie saw it as a mixture of the two colors. You have a good eye for color. Happy Holidays,
Cheers,
Leslie
Wow! What a huge improvement over this past years color – Radiant Orchid. That was a horrible color for interiors – or clothing!
Anne,
I agree, but i was hoping for something in the blue range. Happy Holidays.
Cheers,
Leslie
I love the marsala color. I also love the buffet you have painted in a muted shade of scandinavian pink/primer red. Would you please let me know if you blended the two or did you brush the pink on top of the red to get the look?
love it. simply gorgeous and versatile.
Are these inspiration photos or did you actually use these paints on these pieces to achieve these looks on each piece. I have a client who wants me to paint a dresser just like dresser who have featured with Primer Red, SP, French LInen and Old Ochre. Were these the actual colors used on this piece? Would you share how you did it. She really wants this!!
I want that look too! did you ever find out how it was done?
how did you paint the dresser with scandavian , red, linen and ochre ? I love that piece.
Hi Leslie,
What colors did you use o the above dresser. I have been trying to figure this out since I first laid eyes on it!!!???
