Video: Mixing Chalk Paint – Beginners Start Here

How do you start mixing your own colors of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint?  In this video I chat about mixing Annie’s equivalent of primary colors; red, yellow and blue, as well as the colors used for shades and tints.

To see my other instructional videos, just click on the Tools tab. For my color mixing charts and ratios see my posts, ASCP Mixing for Green,   ASCP Mixing for Orange,  and  ASCP Mixing for Purple.

Hi Leslie,
I have emailed you before, and you are so kind to respond in a timely manner. I have used Annie Sloan paint, and do love it. The problem is I live 300 miles from where I can purchase it. I have started using flat latex paint and adding water and plaster of paris to it. It has been very convenient for me to get the small sample pots of paint and use them for experimenting with the different colors. I am curious if you have tried this and what your opinion is of this type of paint compared to Annie Sloan. I want to thank you in advance for your response and sharing with us your knowledge and expertise.

Hi Bev,
Hope you haven’t given up on me, I got a little behind in my emails. I have tried mixing my own chalk paint, with less than great results. Before there was a stockist in Louisville, I bought my ASCP online. Most stockists have e commerce, sell for the same price and offer flat rate shipping. (I use Robyn Story Designs). I do have to plan ahead so as not to run out during a project. Usual delivery is a couple days. Thanks for asking.
Cheers,
Leslie

Good morning!
I just love your way of painting! To me it is just like looking at a Picasso!
Do you have a book or video yet to purchase showing your technique?
Would you or do you ever have classes or need an apprentis for a few days.
I am so inspired by your work!
Happy Holidays!

Cristina,
No book but lots of videos. You can find them under the Tools tab and they are also on youtube under my name. I’m trying to work out some classes for 2015 so I will be sure to let you know. Thanks for your lovely comment, and have a happy holiday.
Cheers,
Leslie
