Black and Blue

Black and Blue Dresser

This is a first time color combination for me and I am so surprised how much I like it. Old and battered and needing work I really didn’t want to invest too much effort into trying to salvage this chest of drawers that had seen better days. I painted a solid coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® Graphite on the entire piece and added Greek Blue to the top and around the edges and spots of normal wear.  I wanted the Graphite to have a used, scuffed up, chalk board look so I lightly sanded key areas, something I don’t normally do. Battered black and blue seemed the perfect color palette for a vintage piece that’s survived a hard life.

Most of the time I like to use several colors in painted layers to create an authentic vintage finish but once in a while all it takes are two or three colors to create a head turning piece.
